CHB 4.1: Who is responsible and qualified for Health Building?

The responsibility of health building, intended to support health on an individual level, should be with politicians and health-care providers. However, health-care providers seem to lack in specialists and innovative solutions that can be implemented on a large scale, while following recommendations of accumulating a minimum amount of physical activity (WHO, 2020b) that have shown little success (Steele et al., 2017). In addition, the emphasis needs to shift from a symptom-based-treatment to a prevention-based approach in order to prevent the otherwise inevitable consequences of increased morbidity and mortality due to current conditions. Further, politics are prioritizing global health (i.e. gain control over the virus) and global economy (i.e. subsidy and support packages), while companies and employees have been challenged with a drastic shift to remote with detrimental consequences for employee health and corporate performance. If global health and economy as well as symptom-based treatments are prioritized, individual health and its prevention is naturally neglected. As a result, both employee health and corporate performance will continue to be challenged.

Thereafter, Scientists and Health Professionals (e.g. Sport Scientists, Health Scientists, Human Movement Scientists, Physiotherapists, Manual Therapists, etc.) and qualified private institutions are in desperate need to contribute to global health through reaching individual employee health in corporate environments. In fact, ‘The innovative force of the Top Sector LSH are its small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs; Health Holland, 2021).
